Volleyball Falls To Hofstra, 3-1

BOSTON — The Northeastern volleyball team (9-15, 5-10 CAA) dropped a four-set match to Hofstra (20-3, 12-3 CAA) on Friday afternoon at Cabot Center.

Hofstra def. Northeastern: 25-15, 26-24, 25-22, 25-21

Set One: Hofstra took control early in the opening frame, establishing a commanding presence at the net. The Pride built a substantial lead behind a balanced offensive attack, with Beatriz Braga and Izadora Stedile leading the charge. Despite defensive efforts from Nadia Koanui, who recorded eight digs in the match, the Huskies couldn't close the gap. Hofstra hit .517 in the set and cruised to a 25-15 victory.

Set Two: Northeastern battled back in a tightly contested second set that featured 10 tie scores and five lead changes. The Huskies found their rhythm offensively, with Emma Rowell and Brynn Smith combining for seven kills in the frame. Northeastern pushed the set to extra points and secured a thrilling 26-24 victory on a block from Beatrice Gennari, evening the match at 1-1.

Set Three: The third set remained competitive throughout, with Northeastern trailing narrowly for much of the frame. The Huskies stayed within striking distance behind contributions from Smith and Rowell, but Hofstra's offensive efficiency proved too much. The Pride closed out a 25-22 victory to take a 2-1 match lead.

Set Four: Hofstra carried momentum into the decisive fourth set, maintaining consistent pressure on both sides of the ball. The Pride hit .351 in the frame, led by 19 kills from setter Nina Jioshvili-Ravva's distribution. Despite a strong defensive effort that included 12 digs from Izadora Stedile for Hofstra and nine from Svenja Rodenbuesch for Northeastern, the Huskies couldn't mount a comeback. Hofstra closed out the 25-21 victory to secure the 3-1 match win.

Emma Rowell led Northeastern with 12 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, while Gennari added 10.5 points on seven kills and seven block assists. Hofstra's offense was paced by Braga's 20 kills and Constanza Perez Sain's .484 hitting percentage on 17 kills.

Northeastern returns to action tomorrow against The Pride for the last regular season game at 3 p.m..
