No. 12 NU Gear Up For Set With No. 18/19 BU

BOSTON, Mass. — The No. 12 Northeastern men's hockey team is set for Hockey East action this weekend against the No. 18/19 Boston University Terriers in a home-and-home series beginning on Friday, Nov. 21 at Matthew Arena (7PM), and closing on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Agganis Arena (7 PM).

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. READY FOR A DAWG FIGHT: Across their last 20 meetings, however, the Huskies hold a 10-8-2 edge, while the Terriers have narrowly outscored NU, 51-50. In their most recent series in February 2025, Northeastern earned a 5-1 road win at Agganis Arena, led by junior captain Jack Williams' four-point effort (1g, 3a). Boston University responded the next night with a 3-1 victory at Matthew Arena.
  2. LEADING THE PACK: Through the first ten games, rookie Giacomo Martino leads the team with six goals, while fellow freshman Jacob Mathieu tops the Huskies with 11 points (tied with junior Dylan Hryckowian) and a team-high nine assists. Martino is the first NU freshman in the 2000s era to lead the team in goal scoring through its opening ten games. Mathieu becomes the first NU rookie to lead the team in scoring through the opening ten games since Zach Solow in 2017-18, when Solow tallied 13 points in that span.
  3. ON THE KILL: Northeastern's penalty kill has been a major strength to start the season. The Huskies have shut down 27 of 31 opposing power plays, and their .871 success rate ranks tenth nationally. Their four power-play goals allowed are tied for the eighth-fewest in the NCAA --- leading all Hockey East programs in both categories.
