THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. NOTHING LIL(Y) ABOUT SHAN: Senior captain Lily Shannon has posted a team-high 23 points, which leads all Hockey East players and is tied for ninth in the country. She is averaging 1.64 points per game, the eighth-best mark in the nation and tops among all Hockey East players. The Andover, Massachusetts native leads all Hockey East players this season in goals (10), assists (13) and points (23). Her 13 assists are a career-high and her 23 points are just one off her career-high of 24 points in just 14 games played.
  2. GOING FOR THE KILL: To start 2025-26, NU is 40-for-42 on the penalty kill. The Huskies' penalty killing percentage sits at .952, the best mark in the NCAA and first in Hockey East. Northeastern has allowed just one goal at 5-on-4 and one at 5-on-3.
  3. WE ARE NOT LION, WE MEAN BUSINESS: No. 4 Penn State is the first top-five team to visit Matthews Arena since then-No. 5 Wisconsin traveled for an NCAA Quarterfinal on March 12, 2022. Game two at Dorothy Talbot Rink will mark the first neutral site matchup in series history. The Huskies and Nittany Lions are meeting for the third-straight season. Both sides split each of the previous two-game series. In the previous four meetings, three of the games were decided by one goal. Penn State enters this game riding the country's longest winning streak at 16 games. The Nittany Lions' leading scorer is Tessa Janecke with 25 points, tied for fourth-most in the NCAA. Katie DeSa has started 14 games for PSU, she owns a 1.03 GAA and .934 save percentage. Her 14 wins are tied for the most in the country.
Northeastern will next return to Hockey East play, hosting New Hampshire on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
