BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team is back in Boston for its final non-conference home game as the Huskies host Central Connecticut State on Sunday. Tip-off from the Cabot Center is set for 1 p.m. on FloCollege.
Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
Â
1. SERIES HISTORY VS. CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
Northeastern and Central Connecticut will be meeting for the 15th time with the Huskies leading the series, 12-2. Northeastern has won each of the last five meetings, including an 80-62 win last season in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Â
In that game, Northeastern shot 53% as a team and used runs of 14-2 and 15-0 to turn a two-point deficit early into a 22-point halftime lead.
William Kermoury had 13 points for the Huskies.
Â
2. GRAND THEFT
Luca Soroa Schaller leads the team in both assists (23) and steals (14) and is second in the CAA averaging 2.0 steals per game. As a team, the Huskies have recorded double-digit steals in three games this season, including a season-high 12 against Duquesne on Nov. 22.
Â
3. LOUGH'D IN
Junior guard
Mike Loughnane was a bright spot for the Huskies on Wednesday at Holy Cross, tying a career-high with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting off the bench along with four rebounds and a team-high four assists.
Â
Loughnane joined the Huskies as a transfer from Davidson, and was a three-time captain and is the all-time leading scorer at Boston College High School. His father, Bill, played at Northeastern from 1976-80, and is the program's record holder in single-game assists (15 vs. Delaware on Dec. 29, 1977), and third in team history with 500 assists in 100 games.
