Huskies Battle At John Thomas Terrier Classic, Harvard Invitational

BOSTON — Several Huskies competed among the top contenders in the nation, as the Northeastern men's and women's track and field teams took part in the John Thomas Terrier Classic and Harvard Invitational.
 
JOHN THOMAS TERRIER CLASSIC
  • Graduate student Azza Borovicka-Swanson led all Huskies in the women's mile, running a 4:49.46. Graduate student Stephanie Kriss also set a new personal best after setting a time of 4:55.06.
  • Sophomore Thomas Landry was the lone Husky to run the men's 400m Invite, finishing at 49.54.
  • In the men's 800m, sophomore Andrew Kenny crossed the line in 27th with a time of 1:53.86. Junior Conall Rogers (1:54.48) finished under a second later to come home in 32nd.
  • Graduate student Tyler Brogan earned a top 100 finish in the men's mile, running a 4:11.08 to lead all Huskies. Freshman Jack Mattingly ran a 4:21.51 in his first event of the indoor season.
  • Graduate student Benjamin Godish grabbed a top-50 finish and broke the school record in the men's 5000m, crossing the line at 13:53.03. Sophomore Ryan Sarney broke his personal best by 17 seconds, finishing at 14:35.02, and freshman Nico Boyle set a new personal best of 14:46.36 to cap off the meet.
HARVARD INVITATIONAL
  • Sophomore Ian Solberg won in the men's high jump after clearing the bar at 1.97m.
  • In the men's 60m prelims, Landry took 10th, running a 6.98. He followed with first place in the men's 200m with a 21.58.
  • Graduate student Savion Thompson competed in the men's 60m hurdles, his first event of the indoor season. He finished second with a time of 8.05, a new personal best and seventh fastest time in program history.
  • In the women's long jump, sophomore Camryn Cole took third after leaping a distance of 5.74m.
  • Graduate student Lena Lebrun took third in the women's 800m, running a 2:13.23. Freshman Sloan Hinton finished half a second behind to take fourth in her first attempt in the event, and Borovicka-Swanson crossed the line in eighth with a time of 2:14.90.
  • The women's 60m saw sophomore Savannah Blair cruise to another win, finishing at 7.44.
The Huskies look forward to the Harvard Crimson Elite, taking place from February 7-8, and the Scarlet and White Invitational, hosted by Boston University, on February 8.
