THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Northeastern is facing Campbell for just the second time in program history, and Stony Brook for the second time this season. The Huskies took the victory in their first-ever meeting with the Camels, by a score of 86-76 last season in Buies Creek, and took down Stony Brook on the road earlier this season 70-66 on Long Island. The Camels this season have risen to the top of the CAA standings in 2024-25, currently sitting tied for third with a 9-3 conference mark, and are currently on a seven-game win streak. The Seawolves are coming off a big road victory over local rival Hofstra, defeating the Pride 80-75 on Saturday for their second CAA win of the year.
2. KING ME
- Junior guard Rashad King was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week on Monday, his second weekly honor of the season, after averaging 30 points per game last weekend against Hofstra and Hampton. He notched new career highs each night, tallying 28 points at Hofstra, and followed that up with a 32-point effort, the first 30-point game for a Husky since the 2022-23 season, against Hampton at home. In those two games, King also averaged 5.5 rebounds per game, totaled four assists, blocked one shot, and was a near perfect 24-25 from the free-throw line, notching a career-high 12 FTs in both games. He shot 54% overall from the field (18-for-33) on the week. He's up to 17.8 points per game, good for fifth in the CAA, while also leading the league in minutes per game at 36:07.
3. LAST TIME OUT
- Northeastern split its results last weekend on the road at Hofstra and at home against Hampton - the Huskies started off the week strong with a 77-68 victory over Hofstra on Thursday night, led by 28 from King, a double-double (10p, 10r) from Harold Woods, 14 points from LA Pratt, and 13 points off the bench from William Kermoury. It was NU's first win in Hempstead since 2021, with Hofstra taking six of the last seven meetings since that game. At home on Saturday vs. Hampton, the Huskies were unable to halt the Pirates' hot shooting hands, as Hampton tallied 84 points on 58% shooting to earn their first victory over Northeastern in program history. The Huskies got 32 from King and 19 from Woods, but were unable to catch the Pirates in the second half after cutting the lead down to five at halftime.
