BOSTON— The No. 15 Northeastern women's hockey team is set for a two-game home-and-home series against the Boston College Eagles beginning on the road on Friday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. The Huskies will then host the Eagles in Matthews Arena on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.
Prior to puck drop on Sunday, Northeastern will honor the careers of
Molly Griffin,
Taze Thompson,
Lily Yovetich,
Katie Davis,
Taylor Guarino,
Tory Mariano and
Skylar Irving. Both games will be available to stream on ESPN+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- SENSATIONAL SEVEN: The Huskies will honor seven graduates in their final regular season home game on Sunday. Over the past four years, the senior class has been a part of three Beanpot championships, two Hockey East regular season championships, two Hockey East tournament championships and two frozen four appearances. Northeastern has posted 108 victories in the past four years with this senior class.
- A SWEDE SENSATION: Freshman Lisa Jönsson leads all goaltenders nationally with a .950 save percentage and second with a 1.25 GAA. No other freshman ranks in the top-15 of either of those categories. She has posted seven shutouts in her first 20 starts. Her seven shutouts rank tied for the third-best mark in the NCAA. She was named a National Goaltender of the Year Semifinalist and is the only freshman of the nine goalies honored. Jönsson extends the Huskies streak as one of only two schools with a Goalie of the Year Semifinalist each year since the award's inception in 2021.
- DAWGS VS. BIRDS: The Huskies and Eagles have met twice previously this season with each side earning a win. BC won the previous Hockey East meeting 3-0, while NU took home a 4-2 win the Beanpot Semifinals. The final two games will count towards the three-game Hockey East series. Junior Lily Shannon leads all Huskies with four points against Boston College this season. Jönsson owns a 1-1-0 record with a 2.04 GAA and .937 save percentage. The Eagles are led by Sammy Taber who leads all Hockey East players with 31 points. She has posted four points against the Huskies in two games this season. In net, Grace Campbell has posted a 1-1-0 record against NU with a 2.04 GAA and .926 save percentage, she owns a .930 save percentage and 2.01 GAA on the season. The Eagles have posted the most goals of any Hockey East team this season with 88. BC's power-play sits as the second-best in the league with a .208 conversion rate.
Northeastern will close out the regular season on the road against Vermont with two games beginning on Friday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m.
