Larrañaga and Quéliz Each Drop 20, Huskies Fall To Aggies

BOSTON  - Natalie Larrañaga (22 points) and Yirsy Quéliz (20 points) both had stellar offensive performances on Friday night, but the Northeastern women's basketball team fell to the N.C. A&T Aggies 73-55 in Solomon Court.

Larranaga and Queliz's strong scoring performances led the Huskies (1-20, 0-12) in the contest. Larranaga tacked on three assists and Queliz added four assists and two steals. Alyssa Staten also helped out with seven points, 11 rebounds and two steals.

The Northeastern offense was very productive from three point land, making 11 threes on 27 attempts. Queliz was the most prolific shooter for the Huskies, draining six treys in the contest.

How It Happened

After falling behind 6-2, Northeastern went on a 5-0 run with 5:34 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Larranaga, to take a 7-6 lead. The Huskies then surrendered that lead and entered the second quarter down 16-13.

The Huskies continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 39-24 halftime deficit.

N.C. A&T continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 56-40 advantage before Northeastern went on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a three from Queliz, to trim its deficit to 56-46 with one second to go in the third, a score which remained until the end of the third quarter. Northeastern knocked down five three-pointers in the quarter to score 15 of its 22 total points.

Northeastern could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 73-55. Northeastern pulled down three offensive rebounds to score two second chance points out of nine total in the period.

The Huskies remain at home for their next contest this coming Sunday, February 16th, as the Huskies host Hofstra at 1 p.m. in their Black History Month game. That game can be seen on NESN+ and FloCollege.
