BOSTON – Led by 25 points from
Rashad King, the Northeastern Huskies (15-12, 7-7) took down Stony Brook (6-21, 2-12) by a final score of 71-60 on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
King tallied 20+ points for the fourth straight game, as he's now up to 18.3 points per game on the year. His 25 points came on 10-of-18 shooting, his fifth game this season tallying 10 or more made field goals. He also grabbed eight rebounds, dished four assists, and had one steal. Three of his made buckets were three-pointers.
Northeastern also got double figures from
Harold Woods, who tallied 16 with seven rebounds and five assists, and
JB Frankel, who posted his eighth 10+ point performance in conference play. Frankel went 4-for-6 from three-point range, while also pulling down two rebounds and handing out two assists.
The Huskies shot 49% from the field overall, thanks in part to a 55% (16-for-29) performance in the first. The Northeastern offense fired on all cylinders to the tune of a 16-point halftime lead after an 8-0 run in the final three minutes, with threes from Frankel and
William Kermoury, and a deep two by
LA Pratt. Overall, Northeastern went 10-for-26 from long range, the third time this season the Huskies made 10 or more three's.
In the second half, Northeastern pushed the lead to 20+ on an 11-5 run immediately following half time, and would go on to lead by as much as 29 midway through the half. Stony Brook tried to rally with a pair of eight-point and seven-point runs, but never got it to under 15 until the final minute.
Stony Brook was led by Andre Snoddy, who scored 20 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds. He also dished four assists and was 5-for-5 from the free throw line. The Seawolves went 7-for-8 as a team from the line while the Huskies shot 5-for-10.
NU excelled in transition, tallying 14 fast break points, and moved the ball exceptionally with 15 assists on the afternoon.
The Huskies win back to back games for the first time since December, when they went on a three-game winning streak against La Salle, Colgate, and Old Dominion. They'll play one more home game in this home stand, next Thursday, February 20
