BOSTON – With just two weeks left in the regular season, the Northeastern men's basketball team will look to make it three straight victories when the Huskies host two-time defending league champion Charleston on Thursday night at Matthews Arena (7 p.m.). Northeastern currently sits in a three-way tie for sixth place in the league standings with four games still to play.
Â
FOUR THINGS TO KNOW
Â
1. SERIES HISTORY VS. CHARLESTON
Charleston and Northeastern are meeting for the 25th time, with the Cougars leading the series 13-11. Charleston has won the last six meetings, including a tight 87-85 contest earlier this season. In that game,
Rashad King (22) and
Harold Woods (20) combined for 42 points as the Huskies shot 51% as a team in a contest that came down to the final shot at the buzzer.
Â
2. HOME SWEET HOME
The Huskies are 7-4 this season at Matthews Arena, averaging 70.8ppg and shooting 46% overall. Three players are averaging double figures, led by
Rashad King's 18.8 points per game and shooting 45% from the field.Â
Â
A win Thursday would give Northeastern its most home victories in a season since 2018-19.
Â
3. CROWN 'EM
Rashad King has emerged as Northeastern's go-to player this season, leading the team in scoring (18.3ppg), minutes (36.2) and assists (93). He's reached 20+ points 11 times this season, including a career-high 32 vs. Hampton on Feb. 8, and is also six points away from becoming the first Husky since Jordan Roland (2019-20) to score 500 points in a season.
Â
King was named the CAA Player of the Week for the third time on Monday, the most for any player in the league this season and the most for a Husky since Tyson Walker in 2021.
Â
4. PARKING FOR HOME GAMES AT MATTHEWS ARENA
Fans attending Athletic events at Matthews Arena are able to park in the Columbus Avenue Garage during the event free of charge. The garage is open to fans two (2) hours prior to game time. From Columbus Garage fans can access Matthews Arena by taking the footbridge over the MBTA tracks via Camden Street. Fans should visit the Columbus Garage office to obtain a parking voucher prior to departure, and are asked to exit the garage no later than one (1) hour following the conclusion of the game.
Metered parking is also available on streets around the arena.
