How It Happened

Northeastern kept it close in the first quarter, but entered the second frame down 20-16.

Delaware kept adding to that lead, building a 27-18 advantage before Northeastern went on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Maria Sanchez Pitarch, to narrow its deficit to 27-23. The Huskies continued to chip away, reducing the Delaware lead to 28-26 heading into the break.

Delaware continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 45-37 advantage before Northeastern went on a 7-0 run to trim its deficit to 45-44 with 13 seconds to go in the third, a score which remained until the end of the third quarter. Northeastern took advantage of five Delaware turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off of takeaways.

Delaware kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 54-47 advantage before Northeastern went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 54-52 with 2:07 to go in the contest. Delaware responded and outscored the Huskies the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 62-54. Northeastern fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down two shots to account for six of its 10 points.

The Huskies hit the road next weekend as they face Campbell on Friday, Feb. 7, followed by Charleston on Sunday, Feb. 9.
