BOSTON --Alyssa Staten, Natalie Larranaga and Yirsy Queliz combined to score 41 of Huskies' 51 total points, but the Northeastern women's basketball team fell to the Towson Tigers 67-51 on Friday night at the Cabot Center.

Staten secured a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Huskies (2-21, 1-13). Larranaga added 14 points, four assists and two steals and Queliz helped out with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists.

How It Happened

Northeastern struggled out of the gate, falling behind 15-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Northeastern then cut the Tigers lead to 24-20 before going on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a three from Camille Clement, to take a 25-24 lead. The Huskies kept that lead for the remainder of the period and enjoyed a 27-26 advantage heading into halftime. Northeastern forced four Towson turnovers in the period and turned them into five points.

Towson then took a 37-29 lead following intermission before Northeastern went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Queliz, to trim its deficit to 37-34 with 2:16 to go in the third. Towson countered and stretched its lead to 43-39 heading into the fourth. Northeastern played well near the basket, scoring six of its 12 points in the paint.

Northeastern could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 67-51. Northeastern took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 12 of its 12 points in the paint.
