BOSTON— The No. 13 Northeastern women's hockey team will host the No. 14 Boston University Terriers on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. in Matthews Arena to close out the three-game Hockey East series. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+, TSN+ and the international stream.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- SHE KAN[DELL] DO IT: Freshman Tuva Kandell has posted three goals and 11 assists for 14 points, the best mark of any rookie Hockey East defenseman and tied for the fourth-best mark of any Hockey East freshman regardless of position. Kandell posted her first game-winning goal in overtime on the power-play to deliver Northeastern a 4-3 victory over then-No. 15 UConn. The Stockholm, Sweden native's 14 points are the most by a rookie Husky defenseman since Skylar Fontaine posted 14 points and Brooke Hobson tallied 15 in 2017-18.
- BLOCK IT LIKE IT'S HOT: Northeastern has blocked 390 shots this year, the most of any Hockey East team and ninth-best mark in the NCAA.The Huskies had a season-high 27 blocks against then-No. 15 Boston University in the Beanpot Championship. Senior Tory Mariano and junior Jules Constantinople have posted 52 blocks to lead the Huskies, which is tied for the second-most of any Hockey East player.
- BIG DAWGS GOTTA EAT: The Huskies will be facing BU for the first time since the Beanpot Championship where NU won, 4-0. The two sides have split the Hockey East series at one game apiece so far and all games have been decided by a 4-0 margin. Boston University currently sits at first overall in the Hockey East standings and is riding a four-game winning streak since dropping in the Beanpot final. Julia Shaunessy leads all Terriers with 16 points, while Sydney Healey has a team-high 11 goals. Callie Shanahan and Mari Pietersen have split time in goal this season, with Shanahan owning a 1-2-0 record against NU. In three games against BU this season, graduate student Jaden Bogden leads all Huskies with four points. Freshman netminder Lisa Jönsson owns a 1-1-0 record against BU with a 1.01 GAA and .964 save percentage.
Up next, Northeastern will travel to Maine for one game on Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.
