BOSTON – The Northeastern men's and women's track and field teams began the jam-packed weekend with the first day of the Harvard Crimson Elite. Sixteen athletes made the trip to the Gordon Indoor Track, with the meet highlighted by senior
Tremain Robinson's best performance of the indoor season.
Multi Events:
- Five Huskies competed in multi-events on Friday. Senior Paul Wisnaskas and freshman Casey Rockett took on the men's heptathlon, while freshmen Jaice Dorsey, Genevieve Duchaussee, and Madison Phillips competed in the women's pentathlon.
- Duchaussee was the highest-finishing Husky in the women's pentathlon, earning 3,129 points to finish 11th overall. Her best event was the 800m, where she ran a 2:30.56 to finish sixth. Dorsey (3,120 points) finished nine points behind, and Phillips finished with 2,830 points.
- Wisnaskas sits tenth after the first day of the men's heptathlon, accumulating 2,404 total points. His best event was the men's 60m, where he finished eighth after running a 7.40. Rockett's first attempt at the heptathlon seems him with 1,981 points through the first four events.
Track Events:
- Sophomore Savannah Blair opened the track events by qualifying for the 60m Finals, taking second place in the prelims at 7.47. Blair went on to finish second with the same time as her prelim run.
- Freshman Elena Olson was the only Husky to compete in the 60m hurdles, where she ran a 9.15.
- In the men's 60m prelims, graduate student Tristen Howard logged a dash of 6.73 for fifth place, qualifying for the finals. In the final, Howard crossed the line in sixth with a time of 6.72, a new personal best.
Field Events:
- Junior Leila Curtis was the lone Husky to compete in the women's shot put. She finished tenth with a throw of 13.21m.
- Junior Mia Belanger took fourth in the women's high jump, reaching a mark of 1.70m. On the men's side, sophomore Ian Solberg captured seventh after clearing the bar at 1.90m.
- Sophomore Carmyn Cole earned tenth in the women's long jump. She reached a distance of 5.62m.
- In the women's weight throw, graduate student Hope Belvit finished tenth after reaching 17.42m, a new season high.
- Robinson stole the show for Northeastern, finishing fourth in the men's weight throw. His toss reached 19.13m, a new personal best and the seventh-best mark in program history. Graduate student Nicholas Pisciotta also competed, earning seventh with a throw of 17.80m.
The Northeastern track and field teams continue weekend action at the Harvard Crimson Elite and the BU Scarlet & White Invitational, starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow. The Crimson Elite will be available to stream on ESPN+, while the Scarlet & White will be available on FloTrack.
