SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In their first New England midweek contest of the season, the Northeastern Huskies (8-6) fell on the road to Bryant (6-8-1) by a final score of 13-3 in seven innings.
- Bryant struck first in the bottom of the first inning, on a two-out RBI single to shallow center, followed by a bases-loaded double that made it 4-0.
- After the Huskies shut down Bryant in the second, the Bulldogs got one in the third and two in the fourth to lead 7-0.
- In the fifth, Bryant had an opportunity to blow it open even further, but a fly out to left field stranded Bulldogs on all bases.
- The Huskies capitalized on that fifth inning momentum swing with three runs in the top of the sixth inning – after a Jack Goodman leadoff single, and advancement to second on a balk, a two-out RBI single from Will Fosberg scored Goodman to put NU on the board.
- A Gregory Bozzo single advanced Fosberg to third, and high chopper to third from Chris Walsh couldn't be handled and all runners were safe as Fosberg ran home for the second run.
- The Huskies got their third run of the frame as Carmelo Mussachia hit a blooper over the right side of the infield that couldn't be nabbed by the diving second baseman, driving in Bozzo from third to cut the deficit to 7-3.
- Bryant responded in the bottom of the frame with a two-RBI double, and a sacrifice bunt with a runner on third to regain the seven-run lead, 10-3. A one-out RBI double extended the Bryant lead to eight to finish the inning.
- The 'Dogs got their final two runs in the seventh to finish the game via run rule, 13-3.
- Northeastern falls to 2-6 all-time when playing at Bryant, 8-11 overall in the all-time series.
