BROOKLINE, Mass. – In its home opener of the 2025 season, the Northeastern University baseball team (9-6) got a 5-0 win over Harvard University (0-10) on Friday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
A solid pitching performance from starter

Charlie Walker delivered a season-high 14 strikeouts in NU's third shutout win of the season, and opportunistic base running saw the Huskies steal eight bases and score on a passed ball.
- In the second, the Huskies struck first after Jack Goodman tallied a lead off double to right-center. After a steal of third base, Goodman took home on a passed ball for the 1-0 lead.
- The Huskies platted four runs in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 5-0. After a lead off double from Harrison Feinberg and a single from Cam Maldonado, a ground-rule double from Goodman scored Feinberg from third.
- Carmelo Musacchia got around the tag on an errant throw from the shortstop, scoring Maldonado from third, and an Alex Lane ground-out RBI scored Goodman from third.
- With two outs, Musacchia took home on a balk for the fifth NU run of the afternoon.
- Will Jones worked an efficient five innings of two-hit, no-run baseball, tallying a career-high nine strikeouts in the contest. He left the game with a 1-0 lead, which extended to 5-0 in the bottom frame. He's now 5-0 on the season, earning a win in each of his five starts.
- Getting the four-inning save was Charlie Walker, who had a near-perfect outing allowing just one hit on the afternoon. He struck out four as he completed the combined shutout. Walker currently leads the bullpen with 13.2 innings pitched, 19 strikeouts, and a 0.00 ERA.
- Fourteen strikeouts for Northeastern is the most since last year's season high at Boston College – the Huskies won that contest 10-6.
- The shutout was NU's third of the season, which is tied for third-most in the nation.
