BRIGHTON, Mass. – In their second straight midweek contest, the Northeastern Huskies (12-7) were unable to win their fifth in a row, falling to the Boston College Eagles (9-9) by a score of 6-0 at Harrington Athletics Village on Wednesday afternoon.
- Boston College kicked the game off with a triple in its first at bat, and a two-out single up the middle to score the runner for the 1-0 lead.
- The Eagles brought in three more runs in the fourth on three hits, and added on two more in the fifth on an RBI single and a sacrifice bunt to lead 6-0.
- The Huskies looked to respond with two leadoff hits in the sixth, but a pair of grounders delivered three outs for BC.
- Starter Max Gitlin posted season-highs in innings pitched (3.2) and strikeouts (5), but was unable to get out of the fourth-inning jam, finishing his day with four earned runs on his line.
- The back end of the bullpen provided three innings of shutout relief, with 2.0 innings of one-hit ball from Ryan Griffin, and a 1-2-3 eighth inning from freshman Angel Cruz , who struck out the first two batters he faced in his first career appearance.
- It's Northeastern's first loss to BC since the 2022 season, which was a 4-2 loss in the Baseball Beanpot opening round in Brighton. The Huskies were on a three-game winning streak in the series, winning once in 2023 and twice in 2024.
- The shutout loss ends a 140-game streak in which Northeastern scored a run – the last time the Huskies were shut out was May 19, 2022 at Delaware (4-0 loss).
The Huskies return home to Friedman Diamond this Friday, March 21
