HONOLULU, Hawaii – In game three of the four-game set, Northeastern University baseball (4-4) fell to Hawai'I (9-2) by a score of 11-3 on Sunday afternoon at Murakami stadium.
- The Rainbows took an early lead in the third, on a trio of two-out hits to score three runs for 3-0 lead.
- In the fifth, Hawai'i added an unearned run on a sac fly to lead 4-0.
- Another sac-fly and a three run home run for Hawaii extended the lead to 8-0 in the sixth, and an RBI single to center field scored two more in the seventh for the 10-0 lead.
- Northeastern finally broke through in the eighth on an RBI single from Eric Cha up the middle, his first career hit, scoring Jack Doyle from third. Doyle led off the inning with a double down the left field line.
- Hawaii got that one run back in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run.
- The Huskies had one last gasp in the top of the ninth, with a lead off walk to Cam Maldonado and a one-out, two-run home run from Jack Goodman to try and start a rally, now down 11-3. Hawaii was able to quickly collect the final two outs.
- Hawaii's eight two-out RBIs were the difference, keeping innings alive and the Husky defense out on the field longer.
With Hawai'i leading the series 2-1, the two teams wrap up the series on Monday night, March 3
rd at 6:35 p.m. HST (11:35 p.m. EST). That game will stream on ESPN+.
