HONOLULU, Hawaii – After falling in the series opener, the Northeastern University Huskies (4-3) answered back to take game two from the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors (8-2) by a score of 7-1 on Saturday evening at Murakami Stadium.
Northeastern was paced by a three-hit, two-homer night from left fielder
Harrison Feinberg, his second and third of the weekend, as the Huskies took the lead for good in the sixth and never looked back.
- Northeastern struck first off the bat of Will Fosberg, tallying his first collegiate hit in a two-out situation. With a 2-2 count, the redshirt freshman hammered the ball to right-center field for the solo home run, giving NU the 1-0 lead.
- Hawai'i answered back in the bottom of the fourth on an infield single that scored a runner from third.
- After a strong five innings from Will Jones (3H, 1R, 4K), the Huskies regained the lead in the top of the sixth – a Cam Maldonado lead off double got things started, and a Jack Goodman single down the line scored him for the 2-1 lead.
- With runners on first and second, Gregory Bozzo hit a chopper to first base that resulted in a ground out, but the ensuing throw home couldn't catch Goodman, scoring NU's third run.
- Northeastern blew it open in the top of the seventh, scoring three on four base knocks, sparked by a lead off home run from Feinberg, his second of the weekend, to lead 4-1.
- After Ryan Gerety followed that up with a double, he stole third and then turned homeward on the passed ball to extend it to 5-1.
- Maldonado reached base on a hit-by-pitch, and after stealing second, was hit home by Alex Lane on a single up the middle.
- Feinberg hit his second homer of the evening on a full count to lead off the eighth inning.
- Out of the bullpen was Charlie Walker (2.0, 0H, 3K) and Max Gitlin (2.0, 2H, 3K) providing four scoreless innings to put the game away.
- Jones moves to 3-0 on the season, with a team-high 16 innings pitched on the year a 0.56 ERA.
- The Rainbow Warriors were held to just one run, their lowest on the season.
- Northeastern went 6-for-7 on steals in the game – Gregory Bozzo led the way with two.
