HAMPTON, Va.— Abby Jegede, Yirsy Quéliz and Alyssa Staten all posted double-digit scoring efforts, but the Northeastern women's basketball team fell to the Hampton Pirates 68-66 on the road Sunday.
 
Jegede led the Huskies (2-23, 1-15) with 20 points and seven rebounds. Quéliz added 18 points and seven assists and Staten helped out with 15 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Samia Greene had a career day, posting nine points, four rebounds and two steals. 
 
Northeastern struggled out of the gate, falling behind 20-15 at the end of the first quarter. Northeastern kept the Pirates from increasing their lead before going on a 5-0 run to tie the game at 24. Hampton then took control, putting the Huskies at a 36-32 disadvantage heading into halftime.
 
Hampton continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 39-34 advantage before Northeastern went on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a three from Samia Greene, to grab a 40-39 lead with 6:55 to go in the third. Before the third period was over, the Huskies added one point to that lead and entered the fourth quarter with a 55-53 edge. 
 
Hampton then erased the Northeastern lead in the game's final quarter for a 68-66 comeback victory. Northeastern took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring eight of its 11 points in the paint.
 
The Huskies will next host Elon for Senior Night on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m.
