BOSTON, Mass. - Powered by double-digit performances from Abby Jegede, Yirsy Quéliz and Alyssa Staten, the Northeastern women's basketball team defeated the Elon Phoenix, 49-43, on Senior Night at the Cabot Center.

The Huskies had three players score in double figures, led by Yirsy Quéliz, who had 15 points, six assists and three steals. Alyssa Staten tacked on 15 points and eight rebounds and Abby Jegede chipped in as well with 14 points.

Northeastern out-rebounded Elon 38-34 in Thursday's game, paced by Staten's eight boards. The Huskies also pulled down 12 offensive rebounds and scored 11 second chance points.

The Northeastern defense held Elon shooters to just 30.4 percent from the field, including 17.4 percent from three-point range.

Northeastern struggled out of the gate, falling behind 16-10 at the end of the first quarter.

Elon kept adding to that lead, building a 22-14 advantage before Northeastern went on a 6-0 run to narrow its deficit to 22-20. Elon responded and expanded its lead, leaving the Huskies trailing 27-20 heading into halftime.

Northeastern and Elon both put up nine points in the third quarter, keeping the deficit even at 36-29 entering the fourth.

Northeastern narrowed its deficit to 43-41 before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Queliz's layup, to seize a 49-43 lead with seven seconds to go in the contest, a score which would hold for the rest of the game. Northeastern fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 20 points.
