HEMPSTEAD, NY - Abigail Jegede, Alyssa Staten and Yirsy Quéliz combined to score 42 of Northeastern's 53 total points, but the Huskies fell to the Hofstra Pride 69-53 on the road Saturday.

The Huskies had three players score in double figures, led by Jegede, who had 19 points and two blocks. Staten added her fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds and Quéliz chipped in with 11 points, five assists and two steals.

The Northeastern defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 13 Hofstra turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 15 points on the offensive end of the floor. 

Northeastern struggled out of the gate, falling behind 21-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Huskies continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 39-18 halftime deficit. Hofstra continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 46-18 advantage before Northeastern went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a three from Camille Clement, to trim its deficit to 46-23 with 6:39 to go in the third. Hofstra countered and stretched its lead to 57-32 heading into the fourth. Northeastern knocked down two three-pointers in the quarter to score six of its 14 total points.

Northeastern narrowed its deficit to 69-47 before going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Quéliz's layup, to shrink the deficit to 69-53 with 25 seconds to go in the contest, a score which would hold for the rest of the game. Northeastern took advantage of its opportunities in the paint, scoring 14 of its 21 points in the paint.
