SAN DIEGO – Going for the four-game sweep, Northeastern (8-5) tallied eight runs on ten hits to take down San Diego State University (4-13) 8-5 on Sunday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
Down by two runs midway through the game, Northeastern tallied bases loaded RBIs on walks and hit-by-pitches in two separate innings to take the lead for good and extend that lead late. With a one-run lead in the seventh,
Cam Maldonado hit his fourth home run of the weekend, homering in his third consecutive game, with a two-run shot to right field that gave Northeastern the insurance it needed.
Ryan Gerety went 3-for-5 on the afternoon with two steals and two runs scored.
- The Huskies struck first again, stringing together some hits to start the game. Carmelo Musacchia led off with a double, Ryan Gerety hit him to third with a bunt single, and Jack Goodman delivered a sacrifice fly RBI to bring in Musacchia from third to lead 1-0.
- SDSU plated three runs on four hits in the bottom of the third to take its second lead of the series, 3-1.
- Northeastern answered back the very next inning, with a flurry of free bases, scoring on a bases-loaded error that was originally scored an Alex Lane infield single, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch to retake the lead, 4-3.

- Holding that lead, Ryan Gerety hit a two-out single to right field, and Cam Maldonado hit his fourth home run of the weekend, sending a full-count pitch to right-center field, to extend the lead to 8-5.
- Starting pitcher Jack Bowery went 5.0 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out one batter as he left the game after five with a one-run lead, and earned his first pitching win of the year after a pair of no decisions in his previous two starts.
- After Ryan McCarroll worked a strong sixth inning, Charlie Walker took over in the seventh with two runners on. He got out of the seventh preserving the lead, and worked the final three innings with just two hits allowed and four strikeouts for a big three-inning save, his first of the season.
- Maldonado's three homers in the final three games is the first three-game streak of homers by a Husky this year – the last Husky to do it was Alex Lane against Charleston last season, as he homered in all three games of the series.
- The win was Northeastern's first win on a Sunday this season after missing their Sunday game in weekend one and dropping Sunday contests against Indiana State and Hawaii.
- It's NU's first four-game series win and sweep since the 2021 season - the Huskies swept the Hofstra pride at home before playing game five on Long Island, winning five straight against their CAA foe.

th at 3 p.m., before NU plays its first home games of the season on Saturday, March 15
