Brunner Williams caught the eyes of many in the nation Friday afternoon, breaking school records in the 110m hurdle and 200m, as the Northeastern track and field team took on the first day of the South Florida Invitational and Friar Invitational.
SOUTH FLORIDA INVITATIONAL
- The 4x100 relay team kicked the afternoon off with fourth place, running a 40.23 for the fifth fastest time on the outdoor performance list.
- Exilhomme followed with his record-breaking time in the 110m hurdle, a record that stood for two years, to finish first in the event with a time of 13.54. His time currently ranks fourth in the East Qualifying Region and 11th in the nation.
- Graduate student Tristen Howard led all Huskies in the 100m, running a 10.41 for 11th. Williams was next, setting a personal best of 10.45 and the eighth best time in the event for 12th, while graduate student Noah Sweeney earned 19th after dashing across the line at 10.60.
- Williams ended his afternoon with the school record in the 200m, setting a 20.75 in for fifth place. His mark ranks in the top 35 of the East Qualifying Region. Freshman Taeshawn Berry and junior Michael Stroup also competed, running 21.70 and 22.07, respectively.
FRIAR INVITATIONAL
- Sophomore Waverly Hassman began the evening for Northeastern with seventh in the women's 400m dash, recording a time of 59.73.
- In the women's 800m invitational, senior Nicole Dunbury logged a 2:11.22 for sixth, while freshman Alanna Hagen set a time of 2:19.10 in the 800m open for 13th.
- Freshmen Cian Gara Grady (1:55.01) and Ajay Raina (1:55.87) crossed the line .86 seconds apart, finishing 10th and 11th in the men's 800m invitational.
- Four Huskies took part in the women's mile, led by graduate student Stephanie Kriss, who ran a 5:04.79 for 19th and the eighth fastest mile in outdoor history. Seniors Lucy Abdow (5:05.66) and Lauren Trejo (5:05.99) crossed the line together for 21st and 22nd, recording the ninth and tenth fastest outdoor miles, and freshman Anna Lonergan set a 5:12.96 for 31st.
- Freshman Nico Boyle ran a personal best in the men's mile, earning a top 20 finish with a time of 4:13.19. Junior Conall Rogers (4:15.76) and freshman Jacob Redman (4:15.99) finished in the top 30, and freshman Tim Rank rounded out the group with a 4:23.58.
- Graduate student Lena Lebrun was the lone Husky to take on the 3000m steeplechase, finishing fourth after clocking a 10:37.93, which ranks sixth on the outdoor performance list.
- Freshman Emily Wickard (10:20.15) and senior Vivian McMahon (10:20.75) collected top ten finishes in the women's 3000m, and freshman Emily McCann logged a 10:27.11 for 13th.
- Graduate student Tessa McClain crushed her previous personal best in the 5000m by 26 seconds and recorded the third-fastest time in outdoor program history, taking first place after she crossed the line at 16:35.89. Senior Shannon Trevor (17:28.52), sophomore Keira Gamily (17:40.42), and freshman Lily Poteet (18:02.57) all set personal bests in the event.
- Sophomores Ryan Sarney (15:00.30) and Ryan Gruczka (15:49.41) closed the night out in the men's 5000m.
Northeastern takes on the final day of the South Florida Invitational tomorrow, with the first event beginning at 2 p.m.
