Huskies Conclude Weekend With UMass Commonwealth Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. – Sophomores Hannah Shaw and Katie Rodriguez recorded outdoor all-time performances for the second straight week, as the Northeastern track and field team finished their weekend action at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational Sunday afternoon.

FIELD EVENTS

  • After setting the ninth-best mark in the women's pole vault last week at UConn, Shaw cleared the bar at 3.82m to set a personal best and finish first in the event. Her height ranks fifth in outdoor program history. Rodriguez set a mark of 3.67m for fifth place, improving her personal best and ranking eighth on the outdoor performance list. Sophomore Cassandra Cinzori earned a top-20 finish after she cleared the bar at 3.37m.
  • Junior Max Zuckerman opened the field events with a second-place finish in the men's pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.61m. Senior Paul Wisnaskas and junior Kevin Xu both cleared at 4.16m for top-ten finishes.
  • In the women's shot put, junior Leila Curtis reached 13.82m to finish third, while senior Claire Kuzma's throw went 10.46m.
  • Senior Tremain Robinson took fifth in the men's hammer throw after his fifth attempt reached 54.65m. Freshman Zackery DelSasso followed right behind in sixth, logging a throw of 54.57m, and sophomore Aidan Moreau rounded out the top ten with a mark of 51.84m.
  • Junior Jordan Spencer finished eighth in the men's triple jump after he leaped 13.82m.
  • Senior Julietta Ambartsoumian finished 15th in the women's javelin throw after her toss reached 30.59m.
  • Wisnaskas also competed in the men's high jump, where he cleared the bar at 1.85m for fifth place.
  • Sophomores Mark Etienvre and Ohan Ambartsoumian recorded personal bests in the men's discus throw. Etienvre's throw reached 44.81m, good enough for sixth, while Ambartsoumian's mark of 41.58m earned him 11th.

TRACK EVENTS

  • Freshman Zaida De Pina took on the women's 100m dash, finishing 19th after running a 12.81. Wisnaskas and senior Jessie Legister competed in the men's 100m, running 11.41 and 11.68, respectively.
  • Sophomore Johnny Emmanuel was the highest placing Husky in the men's 400m, earning fourth with a time of 49.05, and sophomore Quincy Scott clocked a 50.03 for 11th.
  • De Pina added a top 20 finish in the women's 200m dash after she crossed the line at 26.63, and Legister ran a 23.43 in the men's 200m dash for a top 40 finish.
