BOSTON— Northeastern women's hockey head coach
Dave Flint has announced the captains that will form the 2025-26 leadership group for the team.
Lily Shannon was named captain, while
Holly Abela,
Kristina Allard and
Jaden Bogden will serve as assistant captains.
"I am extremely honored and so grateful to have been elected captain of the Northeastern women's hockey team," remarked Shannon. "To lead this incredible group of women alongside Jaden, Kristina and Holly is a true privilege. To my teammates, you've shown me what it means to be a Husky and your trust in me as your captain means more than words can express. It is your fire that inspires me to step into this role with all my heart. Thank you to our coaches, staff, faculty and fellow Huskies— you make this place a home where we can grow, compete and thrive. From the roar of the DogHouse to the support of our trainers and professors, you fuel our passion to wear the Red and Black with pride. Representing you is an honor I'll gladly carry with every stride. I'm looking forward to writing a new chapter to add to the storied Northeastern hockey history with you all. Thank you for believing in me."
The quartet was instrumental in guiding Northeastern to a third-straight and 20th overall Beanpot title and ninth-straight trip to the Hockey East Championship game.
A rising senior for the Huskies, Shannon posted career-highs in goals (16) and points (24) during the 2024-25 season. Her 16 goals ranked tied for fifth most among all Hockey East players. She is the first player from Massachusetts to wear the 'C' for the Huskies since Sarah Foss in 2016-17.
Abela will be wearing a letter for the first time in her career as a Husky. The Brampton, Ontario skated in all 37 games for NU last season, while posting three goals and two assists for five points, filling in, in a variety of roles for the Huskies up and down the lineup.
Allard will wear an 'A' for the second-straight year for Northeastern. The rising senior has posted two goals and eight assists for 10 points over her career in the Red & Black.
Bogden rounds out the Huskies' leadership group, wearing a letter for the first time in her career at NU. The graduate transfer from Clarkson made an immediate impact for Northeastern, posting career-highs in goals (6), assists (16) and points (22).
