Huskies Continue To Improve As They Battle In Four Meets

BOSTON, Mass. – The Northeastern track and field team had a busy Friday, as they competed in four meets across the east coast and earned many top-half finishes.

VIRGINIA CHALLENGE UCONN NORTHEAST CHALLENGE
  • Freshman Genevieve Duchaussee competed in the first four events of the heptathlon, ending the day in sixth place with 2,884 points. She earned two seventh-place finishes in the 100m hurdle (15.37) and high jump (1.53m) before taking second in the shot put (11.23m) and sixth in the 200m (25.67).
  • Senior Abigail Klinge was the highest-placing Husky in the women's discus throw, finishing ninth with a mark of 42.69m. Junior Leila Curtis took 11th with a throw of 40.91m, and seniors Julietta Ambartsoumian (38.20m) and Claire Kuzma (38.06m) earned top 20 finishes.
  • In the women's javelin throw, junior Hailey Romero finished sixth with a toss of 38.41m, and J. Ambartsoumian took eighth with a mark of 34.56m, a season-best.
  • Sophomore Ohan Ambartsoumian extended his personal best in the men's discus throw for the second straight week, reaching 43.43m for 17th. Sophomore Mark Etienvre also competed, recording a throw of 43.07m for 19th.
  • Graduate student Cameron Rodgers was the lone Husky to compete in the men's long jump, leaping 7.06m for sixth.
WAKE FOREST INVITATIONAL
  • Senior Reed Cherry and freshman Jacob Redman took on the 800m, with Cherry clocking a 1:50.65 for 12th and Redman running a 1:52.36 for 28th.
MIT SEAN COLLIER INVITATIONAL
  • Freshman Jack Mattingly opened the evening with a 25th-place finish in the men's mile, setting a time of 4:19.36. Sophomore Ryan Gruczka (4:22.82) and freshman Cian Gara Grady (4:23.79) followed, rounding out the top thirty.
  • Senior Vivian McMahon took on the women's 5000m, crossing the line at 17:39.56 for a top-15 finish.
  • The Huskies concluded the first day of competition with the men's 5000m, as freshman Nico Boyle (14:34.37) and sophomore Ryan Sarney (14:36.05) earned second and fourth, respectively. Freshman Tim Rank clocked a 15:38.99.
Northeastern concludes the weekend with the second and final days of the UConn Northeast Challenge and MIT Sean Collier Invitational tomorrow, starting at 11:30 a.m.
