BOSTON, Mass. – On Tuesday, April 30th, the Northeastern Men's Rowing team (#10) took to the Charles River Basin to square off against Harvard University (#3) in a morning of challenging racing under strong cross-headwind conditions.
The day opened with the Varsity Eight racing for the Smith Cup. Both crews managed clean starts despite gusting winds and heavy chop. Northeastern gained a seat in the first 250 meters, but as both crews shifted into base rhythm, Harvard began to press out. By the halfway mark, the Crimson held a Bow to stern advantage. The Huskies launched a strong push with 700 meters to go, closing the gap in the final stretch, finishing 5 seats down on Harvard. Despite a fierce sprint, Northeastern crossed the line 2.3 seconds behind Harvard.
Results – First Varsity Eight (Smith Cup):
1. Harvard – 6:16.0
2. Northeastern – 6:18.3
In the Second Varsity Eight, both crews came off the line evenly matched. The Huskies held within two seats through the opening 300 meters, but Harvard's base speed began to open a lead by 400 meters. Northeastern responded with a well-executed move at the 1100-meter mark and fought hard through the sprint. The Crimson held off the charge, finishing with a 5.5-second margin.

1. Harvard – 6:29.3
2. Northeastern – 6:34.8
The Third Varsity Eight featured a three-boat contest, with Northeastern racing against Harvard's 3V and 4V crews. All three eights got off the line well despite persistent rollers. Through 700 meters, the field remained tightly packed before the Harvard 3V began to move ahead. The Huskies held strong in second, ultimately finishing 9.4 seconds behind the Harvard 3V and 11.9 seconds ahead of the Crimson's 4V.

2. Northeastern – 6:51.6
3. Harvard 4V – 7:03.5
The final event of the day featured the coxed four, where Northeastern dominated from the start. Blasting off the line, the Huskies established open water by the 250-meter mark and
extended their lead throughout the race. With smooth execution and aggressive rhythm, the NU four finished well ahead of the Harvard entry by 22.4 seconds.

2. Harvard – 7:41.0
On Saturday May 4th Northeastern will head up to Fairlee, Vermont to Race Dartmouth (#5) on Lake Morey to close out the regular Season.
