BOSTON, Mass. - Northeastern competed in the annual Arlett Cup against Boston University on Saturday, breaking the Cup time record by 6.2 seconds and keeping the Cup title.
7 seat freshman, Alex Willott, and the Huskies' first varsity boat got off to a strong start jumping out to an early three-quarter of a length lead and maintaining it through the 500-meter mark. Then the NU Varsity made a strong push at the 750-meter mark increasing the lead to a clear water advantage and moved away in the finishing stretch. The Huskies crossed with a time of 5:37.5, setting a new Arlett Cup record previously set in 2005. (5:43.7)

Krstof Janac sat 7 seat of the Northeastern second varsity boat had a clean start, fighting with Terriers in the opening 500-meters. The Huskies claimed a 2-3 seat lead in the first 300 meters. In the second 500, the huskies began to continue to move out on the terriers pulling the boat to a bow to stern lead by the Mass Ave bridge which is just past the 1000-meter mark. In the second half the Terriers 2V attempted to push back against the leading Huskies but the Northeastern 2V managed the rough conditions well and executed a strong push to hold the final lead of one boat length to close out their victory.

Senior, Immanuel Donriech, in 7 Seat of the Huskies' third varsity boat opened with a clean start from all despite the increased choppy conditions. At the 500-meter mark the Northeastern boat pushed to an early half boat lead. Under the bridge the Huskies began to pull away to a full boat length as the winds picked up. The Northeasten 3V continued to extend their lead in the rough waters of the second half of the race and crossing the line ahead of the Boston University 3V and 4V to secure the sweep on the day.

3. Boston University - 6:10.0
The Huskies will travel to Providence to race against Brown University on Saturday, April 19, for the Dreissigacker Cup.
