BROOKLINE, Mass. – In the final game of the 2025 regular season, the No. 25 Northeastern Huskies (45-9, 25-2 CAA) set a new program record for single-season wins with their 24
th straight victory in a weekend sweep over North Carolina A&T (15-37, 9-18 CAA), winning game three by a score of 12-0 in seven innings at Friedman Diamond.
A one-hit, five-inning outing from starter
Jordan Gottesman set the table for Northeastern's 16
th shutout of the season, which is the 10
th most all-time in NCAA history, and the offense backed him up with 12 runs on 10 hits to end the game early via run rule.
- The Huskies struck first with a three-run inning on three hits, all with two outs. It began with a Harrison Feinberg two-out walk, then three straight hits from Jack Goodman (single), Carmelo Musacchia (RBI double) and Matt Brinker (2RBI double) got things started early for NU.
- Northeastern added four more on two hits and an error in the fourth – with Jack Doyle and Alex Lane on base thanks to a hit-by-pitch and walk, Gregory Bozzo laid down a sacrifice bunt that was thrown away and allowed Doyle to score from second for the 4-0 lead.
- With Bozzo on second after the error, and Lane on third, a sacrifice fly by Ryan Gerety scored Lane for the 5-0 lead.
- With two outs, Feinberg hit an RBI single through the left side, stole second, then scored on an RBI single by Goodman for the 7-0 lead.
- The offensive onslaught finished in the sixth inning with another crooked number, with five more runs on five hits. A sac fly from Feinberg started the scoring to make it 8-0, followed by a pinch-hit RBI double by Chris Walsh, scoring Cam Maldonado for the 9-0 lead.
- Walsh would make it to third and score on a failed pickoff to first, allowing Musacchia to take second on the overthrow of first.
- The Huskies got their run-rule insurance with two outs, on RBI singles from Doyle and Lane to make it 12-0.
- Starting pitcher Jordan Gottesman improved to 8-2 on the year with a scoreless, one-hit five-inning outing, where he tied his season high in punch outs with nine.
- Gottesman handed the ball to Joseph Hauser, who worked a near-perfect inning with just one walk on his line.
- Coming out for the top of the seventh was James Morice, who also allowed only one baserunner on a leadoff single, before a double play and a game-ending strikeout ended the game early via run-rule.
- The Huskies finish the regular season with a program record 45 wins, 25 conference wins, and for the first time since 1973, single-digit losses. Northeastern finished with a program-best 23-1 at Friedman Diamond.
- Northeastern's 25-2 record is just the second 25-win season in conference history, the first being UNCW in 2008.
- NU's 45 wins surpasses their 2023 program record 44 wins, which was set in the CAA Tournament.
- Entering the CAA Tournament, the Huskies hold the most wins in the country and the least losses in the country.
