Cam Schlittler Scheduled To Make MLB Debut With Yankees

BOSTON – Former Northeastern University pitcher Cam Schlittler is set to make his Major League Baseball debut on Wednesday night, June 9th for the New York Yankees against the Seattle Mariners at Yankee Stadium, per Yankees manager Aaron Boone. Schlittler is set to become the 12th Husky to appear in the majors, and the first Husky debut since 2021.

Scheduled to be the starting pitcher for the Yankees on Wednesday night, Schlittler will be the fourth Husky to debut in the majors since 2010, and the third pitcher in that stretch. The previous two pitchers in that stretch, Adam Ottavino (2010) and Aaron Civale (2016) also made their MLB debuts as the starting pitcher for their respective teams (St. Louis, Cleveland). Schlittler's debut is the first since Jason Vosler debuted for the San Francisco Giants on April 25th, 2021, pinch hitting against the Miami Marlins.

Drafted in the 7th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, Schlittler has made 54 appearances for the Yankees organization in the past three seasons, with stops at AA Somerset and AAA Scranton-Wilkes-Barre this season. In his most recent stint with the AAA Railriders, he holds a 3.80 ERA in 23.2 innings of work, earning a 2-1 record in five starts with SWB. His 35 strikeouts are good for a 13.3 K-per-9, while he's walked just nine batters in AAA this season. Cam is just one of the nine active Huskies in the minor league baseball system in 2025, ahead of next week's 2025 MLB Draft.

Schlittler pitched for Northeastern from 2020 to 2022, posting a career 2.62 ERA in 182.0 innings of work, with 14 wins in 30 starts, and a K/BB of 180/54. He was named the CAA Rookie of the Year and a freshman All-American in 2021, and was voted onto the CAA All-Tournament team in both tournaments he appeared in (2021, 2022).
