Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
Â
- A BATTLE IN THE ASSOCIATION: Saturday's match up against Drexel marks the start of another Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) season for Northeastern. The Huskies hold a narrow 15-13-4 all-time advantage over the Dragons, with their most recent victory coming in 2019. However, the Huskies dropped their last meeting to Drexel, falling 0-1 on September 14, 2024. While the Huskies are looking to get back to the CAA Tournament in November for the first time since 2022, the Dragons have proven to be a threat in the conference, making postseason appearances for five straight seasons, including as the #2 seed in the tourney last season.
Â
- CROSSTOWN CLASSIC: The Huskies will travel to Newton to face the Boston College Eagles for 17th time in program history. The Eagles hold a commanding 14-1-1 all-time record against the Huskies, with Northeastern's lone win coming in the 2012 NCAA tournament in a 1-0 victory at Parsons Field. In the last meeting between the two teams three seasons ago, two late penalty kicks brought the Huskies back from down 3-0 to just a one-goal deficit in the final 10 minutes. The Eagles held on for the 3-2 victory.
Â
- EARLY SEASON MOMENTUM: The Huskies went unbeaten in their first two games of the season, coming back from down 0-1 in both games to salvage a draw vs. Holy Cross and a 3-1 win over Stonehill. CAA Offensive Player of the Week Bryce Flowers made a sparkling debut for Northeastern with three goals in those first two games, while Defensive Player of the Week Jaden Prado returned to the starting lineup and notched a game-tying goal on the weekend.
