Women's Cross Country Takes First Place At Suffolk Short Course Classic

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Graduate student Stephanie Kriss took third place in the 3K to propel the Northeastern women's cross country team to a first-place finish in its first meet of the season at the Suffolk Short Course Classic. 
  • The women's team scored 30 points to earn a first-place finish, putting 27 points behind them and New Hampshire who came in at second place.
  • Kriss led the Huskies, crossing the finish line with a time of 11:05.11. 
  • Freshman Emersyn DePonte (4th) followed close behind, finishing within 1 second of Kriss.
  • Two more Huskies crossed the finish line within the top-10. Sophmore Emily Wickard (6th) finishing with a time of 11:06.58 and freshman Kirsten Melnik coming in at 11:09.31.
  • Graduate student Lauren Trejo rounded out the scorers with a time of 11:17.11 to place 11th. 
  • All of the Northeastern women crossed the finish line within the top-40 runners.
