BOSTON — The Northeastern women's and men's cross-country teams will compete Saturday at the Maribel Sanchez Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth College. The meet features a 6K run for the women at 10 a.m. and an 8K course for the men at 10:45 a.m.
The Dartmouth Cross Country Course is located off Lyme Road in Hanover.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
1. STARTING STRONG — Both the men's and women's teams opened the season with a win. For the women, Graduate
Stephanie Kriss led the Huskies, crossing the finish line in 11:05.11. On the men's side, sophomore
Nico Boyle finished in 18:29.6, beating the fourth-place finisher by 0.3 seconds and setting a personal best by nearly a full minute.
2. STEPPING UP — Northeastern has 27 runners competing in the Invitational. So far this season, two freshman finished in the top five of their respective previous races. Freshman
Emersyn DePonte came in fourth place with a time of 11:06.03. Men's runner
William French made his freshman debut coming in at 18:30.8 and scoring fifth place.
3. FAMILIAR FACES — The Huskies face Dartmouth, Vermont, and UMass Amherst in this upcoming competition. The men competed against Dartmouth previously in the Friar Invitational where The Big Green fell to the Huskies, with only one point separating the teams.
The next meet on the horizon for the Huskies is the IC4A/ECAC Championships on October 17th, in Bronx, N.Y.
