STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Northeastern (4-6) fell to Stony Brook (5-5) in four sets on Friday evening.
Stony Brook def. Northeastern: 25-21, 25-14, 25-23, 25-17
- Set One: The two teams opened conference play exchanging points. Northeastern extended the game into a lead with a kill from Emma Rowell, 12-8. The home team attempted a response in the latter but would fall to the Huskies 25-21.
- Set Two: Stony Brook set the tone in the second set, taking off to a 13-5 lead. Northeastern tallied two last kills from Svenja Rodenbüsch and Elle Lucas, but fell 25-14.
- Set Three: The Seawolves continued into the third set with a 4-0 opening stretch. A Northeastern run would push into a lead off of another impressive swing from Emma Rowell, but a pair of kills from Stony Brook established a 25-23 third set win.
- Set Four: The final set of the match fell into the same pattern as the second with the home team taking a 19-12 advantage. A late kill from Emma Rowell would be the final point for the Huskies as they fell 25-17.
- Graduate student Svejna Rodenbüsch and senior Nadia Koanui were named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the weekend.
- Rowell led the offensive strike with 13 kills on a .281 attacking percentage. The first-year also led the defense with 12 digs.
- Sofia King led the passing efforts with 29 assists, and seven digs.
