LOWELL, Mass.— With four different goal scorers,
the Northeastern field hockey team defeated UMass Lowell, 4-3, in come-from-behind fashion on Friday night at Wicked Blue Field. With the victory, the Huskies improve to 2-0 their best start since 2019.
- The River Hawks struck first, finding the back of the net six minutes into the first quarter. Senior Emmy Stubbs tied the game for Northeastern at 1-1, 12:30 into the first quarter. Stubbs tipped home a feed from graduate student Laine Ambrose for her first goal of the season.
- The second quarter was a scoreless affair as the two sides ended the first half knotted up at 1-1.
- Freshman Lucy Walton gave the Huskies their first lead of the game in the third quarter, with her first career goal. Before the end of the frame, Lowell would tie the game at 2-2.
- Junior Alex Mega put NU ahead 3-2 in the fourth quarter with her second goal of the season in as many games. Mega's tally was assisted by freshman Jessica Garden.
- Sophomore Camille Armaganian scored NU's final goal on a penalty stroke with just over 11 minutes to play in the game, it marked her first career goal. The River Hawks got on the board one final time to bring the final score to 4-3.
- Graduate student goalkeeper Arabella Loveridge made four saves in her second win of the season.
Northeastern will next return home to Dedham Field to host Holy Cross on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 12 p.m.
