DEDHAM, Mass. — With another game featuring four different goal scorers, the Northeastern field hockey team defeated Holy Cross, 4-2, on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Dedham Field. With the victory, the Huskies swept the weekend and improved to 3-0 on the season.
- The Huskies struck first — and quickly. Freshman Jessica Garden scored her second career goal shortly after the game began.
- The action-packed first quarter continued with a goal from the Crusaders at 3:39. Senior Emilia Adragna scored 34 seconds later to put Northeastern back on top.
- The second quarter remained scoreless, but the goals resumed in the third when junior Julia Puccio secured the lead with her first career goal, assisted by freshman Hannah Simon, who also earned her first career point.
- The Huskies' captains extended the lead to 4-1 with a goal at 38:09 from graduate student Lilly Smith, assisted by junior Alex Mega. Holy Cross added a late goal in the final minute to make it 4-2, both Crusader goals came from penalty corners.
- Graduate goalkeeper Arabella Loveridge started the game and made four saves, while freshman Ibby Welldon played the final 15 minutes and tallied five saves.
Northeastern returns home to Dedham Field to host New Hampshire on Friday, Sept. 12 at 3 p.m.
