No. 7 Northeastern Takes On BU In Beanpot Semifinals

BOSTON— The No. 7 Northeastern women's hockey team will travel to Walter Brown Arena to take on the Boston University Terriers for the 47th Annual Dunkin' Women's Beanpot Semifinals on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

The game will be available to watch on NESN, ESPN+ and the international stream.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. LIGHTNING STRYKES: Stryker Zablocki potted the first hat trick by a Northeastern freshman since Kendall Coyne in the 2011-12 season in a 4-1 victory over Merrimack on Nov. 14 and posted her second career hat trick in a 5-2 victory at Providence on Jan. 9. She was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week for the second time on Jan. 12. She is the first Husky to post multiple hat tricks in a single-season since Alina Mueller and Maureen Murphy in 2022-23. Zablocki has 25 points on the season, tied for the fourth-best mark in the NCAA among freshmen.
  2. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BEANS: Northeastern will be looking to capture a record 21st Beanpot overall, and fourth-straight. The Huskies defeated Boston University 4-0 last season to claim a 20th Beanpot Championship, where Lisa Jönsson was named the Beanpot MVP and Bertagna award winner. Northeastern is searching for a fourth-straight championship, which would mark its first four-peat since the Huskies won eight-straight from1984-1991. It would mark the longest Beanpot victory stretch since Harvard won seven-straight from 1999-2005. The last time the Beanpot was hosted by BU in 2020, Northeastern won defeating Harvard in the first round 3-1 and the host Terriers in double overtime. Northeastern is 5-4-1 all-time in Beanpot games hosted at Boston University. In opening round games against the Terriers, Northeastern owns a 12-2-2 record. Northeastern's largest-ever margin of victory in a game was a 24-0 win over Boston University in the opening round of the Beanpot in 1995.
  3. IT'S A DAWG EAT DAWG WORLD: The Huskies and Terriers are set to meet for the third time this season in the Beanpot semifinals. Northeastern won both previous meetings this season, 3-1 and 7-3. Kristina Allard leads all Huskies this season with four points in two games against BU. NU and BU are meeting in a sixth-straight Beanpot and first time in the semifinal round since 2023, a 4-1 victory for Northeastern. This is the first time the two sides will meet in the semifinals at BU since 2016, a 3-2 victory for Northeastern. The Terriers enter this matchup on a two-game win streak taking down Harvard and New Hampshire. Sydney Healey leads all Terriers with 18 points. In goal, Michelle Pasiechnyk and Mari Pietersen both played against NU earlier this season. Pasiechnyk owns a .910 save percentage and 2.88 GAA, while Pietersen owns a .927 save percentage and 2.26 GAA.
Northeastern will next travel to New Hampshire on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m.
