NU Hosts William & Mary, Travels To Monmouth

BOSTON -- The Northeastern women's basketball team (6-10, 2-4 CAA) continues CAA play with a pivotal road weekend, hosting William & Mary (8-8, 1-4 CAA) on Friday before traveling to Monmouth (12-5, 5-1 CAA) on Sunday. Friday's home game with William & Mary will be the team's Hispanic Heritage Night. Both games will stream on FloCollege.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore forward Justice Tramble converted 7-of-8 free throws, including four crucial makes in the final minute, as the Huskies held off Hofstra 62-60 in their last CAA contest. After building an 11-point second-quarter lead and taking a 34-26 advantage into halftime, the Huskies weathered a Hofstra surge that saw the Pride grab a 40-38 lead after three quarters. The Huskies responded with 24 fourth-quarter points, sparked by Nariyah Simmons' go-ahead three-pointer and a clutch three from freshman Kailee Beaudion-Foliaki with 2:35 remaining. Tramble led Northeastern with 13 points, while Camryn Collins added 10 points and a game-high four steals, and Morgan Matthews contributed nine points and a key block in the final two minutes. Free throw shooting proved decisive as the Huskies converted 21-of-24 attempts (87.5%), including 16-of-17 in the fourth quarter, to snap Hofstra's three-game winning streak in the series.
  2. SCOUTING THE TRIBE: Friday's matchup against William & Mary (8-8, 1-4 CAA) represents a chance for both teams to gain ground in the CAA standings, as the defending conference tournament champion Tribe has struggled in league play despite returning key pieces from last year's historic run. Cassidy Geddes and Monet Dance lead a William & Mary squad that shocked the conference as a No. 8 seed last March, and winning their First Four matchup over High Point to claim the 16 seed in the Birmingham Regional.
  3. REMATCH WITH THE HAWKS: Sunday's contest at Monmouth offers an immediate rematch with the Hawks, who will be looking for revenge after the January 11 loss in Boston, where the Huskies snapped Monmouth's eight-game winning streak on January 11 behind Camryn Collins' 19-point performance. GiGi Gamble, who exploded for 30 points in Sunday's dominant 72-31 victory over Campbell, and Divine Dibula give the Hawks a potent one-two punch.
