No. 8 Northeastern Heads To No. 5 UConn For Two Games

BOSTON— The top two teams in the Hockey East standings are set to meet for a two-game series with the No. 8 Northeastern women's hockey team traveling to take on the No. 5 Connecticut Huskies at Toscano Family Ice Forum beginning on Friday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. Game two is set for a 3 p.m. puck drop on Saturday, Jan. 24. Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

Originally scheduled as a home-and-home series, both games are now set to be played at Toscano Family Ice Forum due to incoming inclement weather.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. CHARGED UP: Offensively, the Huskies have scored 76 goals, most among all Hockey East schools and tied for the 10th-best mark in the country. Northeastern has scored four or more goals in a single-game six times this season and is 6-0-0 in those games. The top line of sophomore Éloïse Caron, senior Lily Shannon and freshman Stryker Zablocki have combined for 38.6% of all Northeastern's points.
  2. TOP OF THE TABLE: Northeastern sits at the top of the Hockey East standings with a 13-1-0 record and 40 points. The Huskies' lone loss came in overtime against UNH. Connecticut sits in second in the league standings with 34 points.
  3. THE OTHER HUSKIES: Northeastern and UConn are set to meet for a top-10 matchup and for the first time since the Hockey East Semifinals last season, a 3-1 victory for NU. Northeastern went 4-0-0 against Connecticut in 2024-25 and has not lost to UConn since the Hockey East Finals in 2024, a 1-0 overtime loss. In four games against UConn last year, sophomore Lisa Jönsson posted a 4-0-0 record with a .966 save percentage, 1.00 GAA and two shutouts. Tia Chan started all four games in net for the other Huskies and posted a .923 save percentage and 2.30 GAA. This year, Chan owns a .952 save percentage and 1.55 GAA, the third and sixth-best marks in the NCAA. Kyla Josifovic leads all UConn players with 24 points, the fourth-best mark among Hockey East players. Julia Pellerin is the Hockey East and NCAA-leader with six game-winning goals.
Northeastern will next face No. 14/RV Holy Cross in a home-and-home series beginning on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena.
