Dragons Outlast Huskies In Cabot

BOSTON -- Camryn Collins scored a team-high 14 points and Justice Tramble recorded her fourth double-digit rebounding game of the season with 11 boards, but the Northeastern women's basketball team(6-13, 2-7 CAA) fell to the Drexel Dragons (13-7, 6-3 CAA), 65-56, on Sunday afternoon at the Cabot Center.

The Huskies had two players score in double figures, led by Collins, who went 5-for-14 from the field with three rebounds. Tramble added 10 points on efficient 4-of-6 shooting to go along with her 11 rebounds, while Alyssa Staten chipped in eight points off the bench.

Northeastern dominated in the paint, outscoring Drexel 36-22, and pulled down 20 offensive rebounds that led to 17 second-chance points. However, the Huskies struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 1-of-11 attempts from three-point range.

The game was tightly contested early, with the score tied four times in the opening quarter. Northeastern built a five-point advantage at 12-7 with 7:22 remaining in the first before Drexel closed on a 12-0 run to take a 19-12 lead into the second.

Drexel continued to build on its lead in the second quarter, extending the margin to 16 points at 39-23 following a 10-0 run. The Huskies went into halftime trailing 39-27.

Northeastern and Drexel both scored 13 points in the third quarter, with Tramble and Taylor Holohan combining for key baskets to keep the deficit at 52-41 entering the fourth.

Northeastern cut the deficit to seven points at 54-47 following an and-one from Holohan with 8:09 to play in the fourth, and cut it to five points with 4:11 to play on a coast-to-coast drive by Collins. The Huskies won the final frame 16-13 but could not pull any closer, falling by a final of 65-56. Holohan finished with seven points, four rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in the loss.

Up next, the Huskies hit the road for a pair of CAA contests, traveling to Stony Brook on Friday, February 6 at 6:30 p.m. before facing Towson on Sunday, February 8 at 1 p.m.
