No. 5 Huskies Take On Terriers In Hockey East Quarterfinals

BOSTON— The No. 5 and first-seeded Northeastern women's hockey team is set to face the eighth-seeded Boston University Terriers in a Hockey East Quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. TROPHY SZN: Northeastern is looking to capture its seventh Hockey East Title. The Huskies own the No. 1 Seed in the Hockey East Tournament after capturing the Regular Season Trophy. Northeastern is 37-13 overall in the Hockey East Tournament, with head coach Dave Flint owning a 37-10 record. As the No. 1 seed the Huskies are 17-1 with a 7-0 record in the quarterfinals. The Huskies are 20-3 in all Hockey East Quarterfinal appearances. Against BU in the quarterfinals, Northeastern is 0-1 with the lone loss coming in 2009. NU is 2-6 all-time against the Terriers in the Hockey East Tournament.
  2. HUSKY EAST ALL-STARS: Northeastern led all schools with six selections to the three Hockey East All-Star teams. Lily Shannon, Jules Constantinople and Stryker Zablocki were all unanimous selections to the First Team. Each player is a first-time, First Team All-Star honoree. Lisa Jönsson and Kristina Allard earned Second Team accolades, while Morgan Jackson was a Third Team All-Star selection. The trio all earned their first postseason honors from the league.

BIG DAWGS GOTTA EAT: Top-seeded Northeastern and eighth-seeded Boston University are set to meet for the fifth time this season and first time in the postseason since last season's Hockey East Title Game, a 3-2 overtime victory for BU. The Huskies are 3-1-0 against the Terriers this year, with the lone loss coming in a 2-1 overtime decision in the Beanpot Semifinals. The Terriers defeated Providence College, 3-0, to advance to the Hockey East Quarterfinals. Northeastern is 3-1-1 at Walter Brown this season. The Terriers own a 6-12-0 record at home. Sydney Healey leads all Terriers with 28 points, 17 goals and 11 assists, she has one goal and two assists against NU this season. In goal, Mari Pietersen and Michelle Pasiechnyk have split time. Pietersen, who posted the win against PC, owns a .924 save percentage and 2.20 GAA, while Pasiechnyk owns a .919 save percentage and 2.52 GAA.
The winner will advance to the Hockey East Semifinals on Tuesday, March 3 at a time and location to be determined by results around the league.
