BOSTON -- Northeastern University senior pitcher
Ryan Griffin has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Griffin showed off his versatility in Northeastern's 3-1 week, earning a pair of wins against No. 2 LSU and conference foe Stony Brook in two vastly different roles.
On Monday at LSU, Griffin made his first collegiate start and worked 5.1 strong innings allowing just one earned run on four hits and two walks, while notching a pair of strikeouts. The Huskies, who led 11-2 when Griffin was replaced, went on to win 13-10, the highest-ranked win in program history.
On Sunday, the Huskies resumed their extra-innings game that was suspended on Saturday night due to darkness. In the bottom of the 12th, Northeastern's first defensive inning of the resumption,
Ryan Griffin took the mound and provided two perfect innings of relief with a pair of strikeouts, as the Huskies notched the game-winning run in the top of the 13th to win their 11th straight CAA series dating back to 2024.
Griffin, a senior from North Andover, is already up to a career-high 11.2 innings pitched on the year in five appearances, with 5 strikeouts and a 2.31 ERA.
The Huskies stay in the Northeast for four games this week, with a midweek at Central Connecticut on Wednesday, March 11 before hosting the Towson Tigers for their first home series of 2026, beginning on Friday, March 13.Â
