BRIGHTON, Mass. -- The Northeastern Huskies (20-16) fell 3-1 to No. 24 Boston College (27-12) in the Baseball Beanpot championship game Tuesday evening at Harrington Athletics Village. Andrew Basel turned in a quality start and Harrison Feinberg tied the program's all-time home run record, but the offense managed just one run on five hits as the Eagles held on for the title.
- Basel was sharp in his five innings of work, allowing just one run on two hits while walking two and striking out two, keeping the Huskies within striking distance before handing the ball to the bullpen.
- Northeastern broke through in the fourth when Feinberg led off with a solo home run to left field, his 12th of the season and the 42nd of his career, tying the program record set in 2009. AJ Aschettino and Tyler Harmony followed with back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners, but the Huskies couldn't add on.
- Boston College tied it in the fifth on a solo homer and then took a 3-1 lead in the sixth with two runs on a bloop single to shallow left.
- The Huskies had their chances late -- Feinberg singled in the eighth and stole both second and third consecutively, but was stranded. Harmony singled in the ninth with two out and advanced to third on a wild pitch before a groundout ended the threat.
- Feinberg finished 2-for-4 with the homer and a stolen base. The Huskies left seven runners on base and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
The Huskies return to CAA play this weekend with a three-game road series at North Carolina A&T, with first pitch Friday scheduled for 6 p.m. on FloCollege.
