Huskies Complete UMass Ken O'Brien Pre-Championship Invitational

AMHERST, Mass. - The Northeastern track and field team completed the day of competition at the UMass Ken O'Brien Pre-Championship Invitational at the UMass Track & Field Complex on Saturday, April 25, finishing with two Huskies taking a victory in their respective events. 
  • Senior Ava Carry-McDonald leapt her way to fourth place in the long jump with a 5.40m mark. Carry-McDonald also competed in the triple jump, taking another fourth place with a 11.28m mark.
  • Junior Katie Rodriguez championed the pole vault with a 3.61m mark. Junior Hannah Shaw followed in second place with a 3.61m mark.
  • On the men's side of the event, freshman Nathan Epstein earned second place due to his 4.35m mark.
  • Junior Ryan Gruzcka took on the 3000m steeplechase, crossing the finish line at 9:33.15 and earning eighth place.
  • Two huskies competed in the women's 3000m steeplechase, sophomore Anna Lonergan and sophomore Ella Dunbury. Lonergan was victorious with a time of 11:29.11, and Dunbury followed in third place in 11:54.48. 
  • In the 1500m, graduate student Stephanie Kriss earned a second place finish in 4:24.67. Fellow graduate student Lucy Abdow followed in fifth place with a time of 4:25.80.
  • Junior Brittani Westberry competed in the 800m, taking ninth place and crossing the finish at 2:20.96.
The Huskies will return to competition next Saturday, May 2 as they host the Jay Carisella and Joe Donahue Coaches Invitational.
