BROOKLINE, Mass. -- The Northeastern Huskies (29-18, 18-7 CAA) opened their final home series of the regular season with a convincing 12-3 victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves (20-26, 12-13 CAA) on Friday afternoon at Friedman Diamond, clinching a berth in the 2026 CAA Baseball Tournament in the process.
Robbie O'Connor delivered another strong outing to earn his eighth win of the season, while the Husky offense pounded out 14 hits and scored in five of their eight innings at the plate. Harrison Feinberg and Matt Brinker each collected three hits, with Feinberg launching a solo home run and Brinker driving in four runs to lead the attack. AJ Aschettino added a two-run homer and Ryan Gerety went deep as well, as Northeastern hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning for the first time since Feinberg and Gerety connected against Grambling State back on March 1st.
- Northeastern struck first in the opening frame when Tyler Harmony doubled down the left field line to lead off the game and scored on a Harrison Feinberg single to left center, giving the Huskies an early 1-0 lead.
- The Huskies added another in the second without the benefit of a base hit. Carmelo Musacchia singled and Henry DiGiorgio followed with an infield single before Musacchia stole third. After Carter Bentley drew a walk to load the bases, Harmony drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Musacchia for the 2-0 lead.
- Northeastern broke the game open with a three-run third inning. Brinker led off with a single and, after a strikeout, Aschettino crushed a two-run homer to left field for the 4-0 lead. Musacchia followed with a single and stole second, DiGiorgio walked and stole second as well, and Musacchia came home on a wild pitch for the fifth run of the game.
- The Huskies made it 7-0 in the fourth on back-to-back solo home runs from Feinberg and Gerety, both to right field. The home run was Feinberg's 15th of the season and 46th of his career, extending his own program record. Gerety's blast was his third of the year.
- Stony Brook got on the board in the fifth, stringing together three consecutive singles to plate two runs and cut the lead to 7-2. The Seawolves added a run in the sixth on an RBI groundout, trimming the deficit to 7-3.
- Northeastern answered right back in the bottom of the sixth with three runs. Bentley singled and Harmony reached on a fielder's choice, advancing to second on a Stony Brook throwing error. After Feinberg was intentionally walked, Gerety reached on a fielder's choice to put Harmony on third. Brinker then delivered a two-run single through the left side to score Harmony and Gerety, and came around to score himself when a pickoff throw on a stolen base attempt sailed into left field, pushing the lead to 10-3.
- Brinker capped the scoring in the eighth with a two-run double to left field, plating Harmony and Feinberg for the 12-3 final. Brinker finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
- O'Connor improved to 8-1 on the season with five innings of work, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out three. He induced six ground-ball outs and worked around traffic all afternoon, stranding runners in the first, third, and fourth innings.
- Andrew Rogovic provided three scoreless innings in relief, scattering three hits and striking out one. Andrew Basel closed out the ninth, allowing a single and a walk but stranding both runners to finish the game.
- The Huskies were aggressive on the basepaths once again, swiping five stolen bases in the contest. Musacchia led the way with three steals, pushing his career total to 88 — one shy of Cam Maldonado's program record of 89.
- Northeastern's defense also turned two double plays, including a key 5-3 (Aschettino to Rogovic to Harmony) in the seventh to snuff out a Stony Brook threat with runners on the corners.
- With the win, Northeastern clinches a spot in the 2026 CAA Baseball Tournament and moves to within one victory of its sixth consecutive 30-win season.
The series continues on Saturday, May 9th at 10:30 a.m. at Friedman Diamond, with game two streaming on FloCollege.
