CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Northeastern (2-5) held one of the nation's top offenses scoreless through 75 minutes Sunday afternoon, but No. 7 Harvard (5-1) prevailed in the penalty shootout, 3-2, at Berylson Field.
- Aiko Price turned in a career performance in goal for the Huskies, making a career-high eight saves to keep Harvard off the scoreboard through regulation and overtime. Price made two saves in the second quarter, four in the fourth and two more in overtime. She also stopped two penalties in the shootout.
- Harvard generated five shots and four penalty corners in the second quarter, but Price twice denied Tilly Butterworth to preserve the scoreless game. Northeastern also withstood a pair of Harvard penalty corners late in the quarter to take a 0-0 game into halftime.
- The Crimson continued to pressure in the second half, earning nine penalty corners across the third and fourth quarters. Price kept the shutout intact with saves on Rosa Kooijmans and Evie Smith before making consecutive stops on Martha le Huray and Lara Beekhuis late in the fourth quarter.
- Harvard carried the pressure into overtime, but Price again came up big, stopping shots from Butterworth and Beekhuis to send the game to a penalty shootout. Northeastern was held to one shot through 75 minutes, while Harvard finished with 20 shots and 15 penalty corners.
- Jessica Garden and Izzy Johnson converted their stroke attempts for the Huskies, but Harvard's Lara Beekhuis, Evie Smith and Tilly Butterworth found the cage to give the Crimson the 3-2 shootout victory.
- For Price, it was her third shutout of the season and her second in as many starts, after a four-save shutout at Hofstra on Friday.
Northeastern returns to action next Friday, September 25, against CAA foe William & Mary at Dedham Field, before traveling to Connecticut on Sunday, September 27 to face No. 10 UConn. Friday's game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
