Aiko Price Named CAA Defensive Player Of The Week

BOSTON -- Northeastern field hockey's Aiko Price has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, September 21, after posting two shutouts over the weekend against Hofstra and No. 7 Harvard.

On Friday in the team's CAA opener at Hofstra, Price posted her second shutout and second win of the season, stopping all four shots on target the Pride offered her, backstopping the Huskies to a 5-0 victory, opening the conference schedule with a 1-0 record.

On Sunday against a top-10 opponent, Price kept the No. 7 Crimson off the scoreboard through four quarters of regulation and 15 minutes of overtime, posting a career-high eight saves against one of the nation's top offenses. Price also stopped two attempts in the penalty shootout before Harvard ultimately claimed a 3-2 victory.

Her two shutouts on the weekend put her season total to three clean sheets, the most in the CAA. Her save percentage (.780) is also the best mark in the conference, while her total saves (32) goals-against average (1.64) are second and third-best in the league, respectively.

Price and the Huskies return to CAA action this Friday afternoon, September 25 at 2 p.m., hosting William & Mary at Dedham Field.
