Price Named NFHCA Defensive Player Of The Week

BOSTON -- The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Wednesday, September 23, that Northeastern field hockey goalkeeper Aiko Price was selected as the NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week after a standout weekend in which she recorded two shutouts against Hofstra and No. 7 Harvard.

Price opened the weekend with a four-save shutout in the Huskies' CAA opener at Hofstra on Friday. The sophomore goalkeeper turned aside all four shots on goal from the Pride as Northeastern earned a 5-0 victory and began conference play with a 1-0 record.

Two days later, Price delivered another clean sheet against one of the nation's top offenses, holding No. 7 Harvard scoreless through regulation and 15 minutes of overtime. Price made a career-best eight saves against the Crimson before making two additional stops in the penalty shootout. Harvard ultimately secured a 3-2 victory in penalties.

With three shutouts on the season, Price leads the CAA in clean sheets. Her .780 save percentage is also the best in the conference, while her 32 saves rank second and her 1.64 goals-against average ranks third.

The NFHCA weekly honor marks the latest recognition for Price following her selection as the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on September 21.

Price and the Huskies return to CAA action Friday, September 25 at 2 p.m., hosting William & Mary at Dedham Field.
