The CAA announced Thursday during their annual awards that four members of the Northeastern men's soccer team have received conference honors.
Junior forward
Mike Kennedy was selected to the All-CAA second team along with senior defenseman co-captains
Matt Sanford and
Santiago Bedoya. Freshman midfielder
Laurence Braude rounded out
the honors by earning a spot on the CAA All-Rookie team.
Kennedy was a preseason CAA honorable mention and led the Huskies attack this season with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. His three game-winning goals are good for first on the squad and tied for third in the CAA.
Senior defensemen Bedoya and Sanford were both named to the preseason All-CAA team and anchored a Huskies defense that contributed to four shutouts on the year.
Bedoya leaves Huntington Ave. as a true playmaker who has started in all 75 games during his career, tallying 6012 career minutes giving him the third most minutes played in Northeastern history. He finished the season with one assist and has recorded three goals and nine assist throughout his career.
Despite not recording a point on the year, Sanford has been one of Northeastern's most consistent and dominant defenders during his four years, playing in 67 games and accumulating the fourth most minutes in the school's history. His command and leadership in the backfield has led to 25 Northeastern shutouts during his career.
The freshman from Sydney, Australia,
Laurence Braude, started the season slow due to injury, but caught fire towards the season's end and posted three goals and two assists. He was often flashy around the ball and will look to build on his skills in next year's campaign.
The Huskies finished their 2010 campaign with a record of 5-9-3. Their 3-5-3 record in CAA play was good for 10th place in the conference.
